Gaston Shocks Kwon to Win First Match on Grass
Hugo Gaston quite shockingly beat Soon-woo Kwon in the first round, 6-2, 6-1. Gaston had lost both the previous H2H matches against Kwon but was able to dominate the Korean with his variety.
This was Gaston’s first win on grass in his career and he was a 4/1 underdog against Kwon.
The Frenchman enjoyed a run to the third round in the recently concluded Roland Garros. He is classified as a clay court specialist and the drop shot is his go-to shot.
The expectations for Gaston on grass is quite low, despite his upset victory. He will have a free swing against Brooksby and will be entertaining the crowd with his excellent variety.
