Musetti Winless On Grass In Pro Career

Lorenzo Musetti has only ever played two grass-court matches on the pro tour, losing in straight sets to Hurbert Hurkacz at Wimbledon last year and more recently to Nikoloz Basilashvili in Stuttgart.

His form outside it has been rather more satisfactory. On clay, the young Italian is a majestic ball striker. Just before the trip to Stuttgart, he won his first Challenger title in two years at the Forli 9 Challenger, which rather explains why he couldn’t quite transition so easily for the lawns.

After a long and arduous week in which all of his matches went the distance, he was pretty gassed by the time he faced Basilashvili last week.

Nonetheless, his second Challenger crown couldn’t have come at a better time for the 20-year-old who has struggled to shake off the inconsistency bug for the past 18 months. And ahead of his third outing on the grass, the man from Tuscany will look to write a more successful chapter this time.

Bublik Beaten by Murray in Stuttgart

Alexander Bublik’s start to his grass-court season began on a positive note. He defeated American Denis Kudla in the first round of Stuttgart in straight sets.

But Bulbik was no match for the resurgent Andy Murray in the second round, as he lost for the third time in four meetings to the Briton former World No. 1. At the time of writing Murray is into the finals of the event, so Bublik may not be too down on himself after all.

With Musetti excelling on the clay in the past week, Bublik has performed dismally on the surface in the last two months. He won two matches in six tournaments.

And if you stretch his form just after winning his maiden ATP title in Montpellier, then it reads six wins from 18  matches. Unless the Kazakh can put together a strong run this week at Queen’s, then he is unlikely to set the world alight in the next couple of weeks.

Musetti v Bublik Prediction and Tip

Bublik has a higher grass-court pedigree, but his form is wanting. He is so short on the Moneyline market, and we reckon the Italian could keep things close.
