Cilic Begins Grass-Court Swing

Marin Cilic produced his best showing at the recently-concluded French Open, reaching the semifinals of the tournament for the first time in his career. What was even more, Cilic scored two Top-10 wins en route to the last (defeated Medvedev and Rublev in back-to-back matches)

Cilic’s spectacular form on the clay Slam made him just the fifth active player to have made at least the semifinals of all four Grand Slams, joining a gaudy list of players including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray.

Overall, the Croat compiled a 9-5 record on the surface in 2022, this being his most productive return on clay in five years.

After taking the week off, Cilic will resume competing at the Queen’s Club. Aside from the pandemic-hit 2020 when the event was canceled, the 33-year-old has played at the second most prestigious grass-court tournament since 2007. He has won two titles and finished runner-up on two occasions too.

Big Week for Broady

Liam Broady knows that his chances of receiving a main draw wild card at Wimbledon could linger on his performances this week.

Broady is among at least six British players in the main draw of Queen’s Club. However, he has been handed a tough opening match against the two-time champion Cilic.

The 28-year-old is looking to build on his breakthrough year on the ATP Challenger Tour last season when he won his maiden title at that level. Things have been slightly promising in 2022, like qualifying for the Australian Open and the Indian Wells Masters.

Broady arrives at Queen’s (where he has lost the first round in each of his three main draw appearances) on the back of a quarterfinal run in Nottingham this past week.

Cilic v Broady Prediction and Tip

Broady scored a massive win over Tiafoe on the grass of Eastbourne last season, so you cannot entirely count him out on home turf. But barring the extraordinary, Cilic should scale this first hurdle.

Tip: Cilic to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
