Pablo Carreno Busta v Sebastian Korda Head to Head

They played once before and it happened at the Australian Open. Carreno Busta won 6-4 7-5 6-7(6) 6-3.

Rare Win for Carreno Busta

Pablo Carreno Busta rarely wins matches on grass but it happened against Holger Rune who himself is not very good on grass. It was a solid performance from the Spanish player who served well and played the crucial rallies much better than Rune.

Carreno Busta’s forehand did most of the damage in that match and he was able to save all 5 break points. He hit first serve 72 % of the times and won 73 % of those points. Overall it was a just a very solid grass performance from a player who has not played well on the surface.

The win meant a lot for Pablo who celebrated it emphatically. It’s been a rough clay season for him with some very poor results overall. He’s still 17-12 on the year but 7-7 on clay is something he would like to forget. He only won 5 matches on grass before this one so it was a major coup.

Now it’s time to see whether he can do it again. The opponent will be very tough and another close match is expected here. Pablo will need eveything in his arsenal to ge this one done.

Expected Good Start for Korda

Sebastian Korda went 5-2 on grass last year showing a fairly high level of comfort on the surface. Americans generally tend to do well on the surface due to their playstyle and Korda is no exception. To be completely fair, Korda would have had an advange against Garin on any surface but clay.

The Chilean has simply never been good on grass and he never really tried either. Korda did not serve that well hitting only 58 % of his first serves but when they went it they were too strong. He won 81 % of those points saving all three break points and it was simply a comfortable 6-2 6-3 win.

Korda is heavily favoured against Carreno Busta again because the Ameircan likes the surface much better. He also has arguably the better weapons although I do think Carreno can serve very well as well. Korda will need to avoid one of his terrible outings that do happen from time to time.

If the serve is there and if the forehand is not misfiring this should be a smooth sailing. Anything can happen though.

Carreno Busta v Korda Prediction and Tip

So Korda is heavily favoured and while agree with him being the favourite I do think it’s close than the odds would make you believe. They played this year and Carreno Busta won that match rather easily. I see no reason why he could not do that again.

It’s grass and Korda is better on this surface but he has consistency woes and that could hurt him in this match. One bad service game and things could go south rather quickly. I will back Korda to win although I could see Carreno Busta giving him a lot of trouble.

Tip: Korda to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
