Last year she made her WTA debut and this season, Zheng is making an impact by climbing up the rankings.
The fast improving Chinese player, who reached the fourth round in her first French Open campaign last month and broke into the top 50 last week and is sitting on a career-high ranking of 46.
The 19-year-old, who has an overall record of 25-9 across levels this year, began the season by reaching the semifinals of the Melbourne Sumer Set 1.
She picked up her eighth ITF title by winning in Orlando in January and then claimed her first WTA 125 title in Valencia.
While she has shown that she can produce results on hard and clay courts, she is yet to be tested on grass. Zheng’s first ever grass court campaign, in Berlin, ended with a straight sets defeat to America’s Alycia Parks.

Frech Looked Good in Birmingham
A come-from-behind win over Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in the first round of the Birmingham Classic, followed by a fighting three-set defeat to Beatriz Haddad Maia in the second round would have been a huge confidence booster for Magdalena Frech.
The Polish player heads to Eastbourne with a 4-10 record on the tour. Overall she is 15-17 this season, with a semifinal appearance at the WTA 125 in Saint Malo and a quarterfinal appearance at WTA 125 in Paris being the highlights of her season so far.
On grass, while she is yet to prove herself at the tour-level, she has played plenty of lower level tournaments and qualifying matches. Overall she has a 27-16 record on the surface, including all her matches.
Zheng v Frech Prediction and Tip
Zheng is the higher-ranked player and also the one who has displayed better form this season, but has played just one match on grass. Her opponent has played a lot more on the surface, albeit at lower levels. Frech’s experience could help her beat Zheng in the first round.
