Karolina Pliskova v Katie Boulter Head to Head
Their only previous outing came in the quarterfinal stage of the Tianjin Open in 2018 and Pliskova had won that match in three sets after being a set down.

A finalist at Wimbledon last season, Pliskova would have liked to do a lot better than she did in Berlin last week where she was a losing quarterfinalist.
Sure, she was playing in her first grass court competition for the year, and had come into 2022 with an injury hiatus that had seen the Czech player enter on a 6-8 win-loss record.
However, given she has done well on grass in the past and that Pliskova looked like she was slowly coming into her own, her loss to Cori Gauff wouldn’t have gone down too well.
Pliskova did overcome Kaia Kanepi and Bianca Andreescu in the first two rounds in Berlin, two solid players in their own right but even there, she looked slightly shaky. Especially against Andreescu where she needed a final set tie-breaker which won by the skin of her teeth, 9-7.
With all that grass court action under her belt, Pliskova should start off with a lot of confidence against a player like Boulter who has never been better than 82nd in the world.

Boulter Continues to Win Openers on Grass
After a three-month layoff from tennis, Boulter returned to courts with the Nottingham Open earlier this month and has since played three tournaments. In each one of them, the British player has won her opening round match.
At Nottingham, Boulter was a qualifier and defeated Tatjana Maria in her opener before falling to Ajla Tomljanovic.
This was followed by victories over Alison Riske and Caroline Garcia in the first two rounds in Birmingham, the win against Riske being a shocker given she had gone into the match at 9/4 winning odds. She lost to Simona Halep in the last eight.
And here in Eastbourne, Boulter grabbed a 7-5, 7-6 (5) scoreline against Tereza Martincova in the opener to move into round two.
While Pliskova will be a different cup of tea, Boulter will know she can hold her own and put up a strong fight against the former world number one.

Pliskova starts off 2/5 favourite to win this and that’s a safe bet too but as far as the ease of victory goes, it might not be a straightforward one. Either expecting a fighting, two-setter or a match that goes into the third.
