Diego Schwartzman is not the best player on grass however the Argentine player certainly can win on the surface. He’s only 9-13 on it but he’s had some good matches in the past, especially at Wimbledon.
The only reason he is playing in Eastbourne is because he had a crash landing in Queen’s last week running into Sam Querrey who destroyed him. Schwartzman could do nothing well in that match and the American won that one in 57 minutes 6-1 6-4.
Schwartzman is having a solid year without any notable results but a solid consistency overall. 24-13 looks good on the resume but he’s not expected to do much on grass. This match could prove a good confidence builder if he gets the win but it will be tricky.
He will certainly have to work hard and the conditions won’t favour him at all. Draper has all the tools needed to make Schwartzman’s season go from bad to worse.

Hot Start for Draper
Jack Draper took a set off of Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon last year and it became clear to everyone that the young lad from the UK can play tennis, especially grass tennis. He confirmed that last week in Queen’s by beating Taylor Fritz.
He dropped a match against Emil Ruusuvuori but the Finnish player is a polarizing player who can play superb tennis on his day. Now, a week later in Eastbourne, he made another faster start on grass. He took down Jenson Brooksby 6-2 6-2 continuing a rough season for the American.
Brooksby is fairly solid on grass yet he is not playing good tennis at all lately. Draper returned very well and allowed very little on his own serve and that’s a winning combo on grass. If he can replicate a similar level against Diego he will have a very decent chance.
However, Draper will also need to be focused because Schwartzman will make him work hard. His best bet would be to shorten the points similar to what Querrey did and he will certainly take some pointers from that match.
Schwartzman v Draper Prediction and Tip
If this was clay I would back Schwartzman. If it was hard courts I would again back Schwartzman but on grass, I think I will have to go with Draper. He’s shown quite a bit more than Diego on the surface and he’s playing at home.
I see no reason why he can’t win this match and generally, I think Diego will bring his best to Wimbledon. This event matters very little to him so I could see him hold back a little bit. I’ll just ride the Brit at home to win, simple as that.
