Andreescu Solid on Grass This Year

Till before the start of this season, the former US Open winner Andreescu had won just one main draw match on grass and it had come in Eastbourne last year.

It was a scrappy win over a struggling Christina McHale, pointing to the road ahead for the Canadian when it came to grass. This year, Andreescu has taken that step forward and looked to have turned things around on this surface.

For starters, Andreescu reached the second round in Berlin where she took Karolina Pliskova to a third set tie-breaker before going down in a slugfest.

At Bad Homburg, the former world number four registered successive straight-set wins over Martina Trevisan, Katie Swan and Daria Kasatkina to make it to the semifinal. A Simona Halep withdrawal meant Andreescu was in her first WTA final since April 2021.

Can she take this form forward and win her maiden Wimbledon match?

Bektas, a Surprise Qualifier

Ranked 225th in the world, Bektas went into each of her Wimbledon 2022 qualifying match as a second-favourite and yet here we are, with the American having made it through to just her fifth main draw at a Grand Slam.

It began with an opening qualifying win over Sara Bejlek which was slightly par for the course, but those victories against Arianne Hartono and Fiona Ferro would have surprised most.

In an otherwise lacklustre season for Bektas, those victories would come as a beacon of hope for the American.

Earlier this year at Roland-Garros, Bektas had won her first ever majors main draw match. She would be chuffed if she could make it two in two but up against an opponent like Andreescu that sounds a tad far-fetched.

Andreescu v Bektas Prediction and Tip

Andreescu has exhibited enough sparkle in recent times to start off as a heavy favourite here and make it to the second round with much ease. A straight-set win.

Tip: Andreescu to win in straight sets: 1/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
