Kyrgios Back at SW19

Nick Kyrgios is finally back at Wimbledon and the Australian can’t wait to start playing at the event. Kyrgios loves playing here, always has and he’s called it the best event many times.

The Australian played super-strong tennis here last year but failed to overcome his body that betrayed him with an abdominal injury. Funnily enough, a few days ago in Mallorca, Kyrgios woke up with abdominal pain forcing him to withdraw from his semifinal clash with Roberto Bautista Agut.

Kyrgios has the signature grass game with a superb serve, solid volleys, good movement on the surface and pretty attacking play. There is a comfort level on grass for him that’s not matched on other surfaces. This year he’s finally taking things seriously and it shows in his 16-6 record.

He actually admitted to wanting to win Wimbledon which is a step up from his usual talk about being content with what he did. He will certainly be hard to beat.

Wild Card for Jubb

Paul Jubb is a talented British player that will try to stun Kyrgiso in round one of his home slam. It’s quite a task for the young Brit but he expressed excitement about the prospect of playing at Wimbledon.

Jubb has shown a lot of promise this year with a 20-12 record and a challenger trophy to his name. Grass has not been that kind to him yet with a 3-4 record but he’s mainly played against worse opposition than this year and it takes some time to adjust.

He played both in Queen’s and Eastbourne. At Queen’s, he beat American Steve Johnson in straight sets so that’s notable but lost to Botic van de Zandschulp. In Eastbourne, he lost to Steve Johnson in three sets. Overall it’s been quite a positive experience for him.

This matchup will be hard but his familiarity with the surface and some youthful silliness could make him play a spectacular match.

Kyrgios v Jubb Prediction and Tip

Obviously, it’s Nick Kyrgios who’s heavily favoured here and anything but a straight-sets win for the Australian would kind of be surprising. So yeah, I’m not complicating things, I’m taking Kyrgios. Keep in mind, that he might have some lingering abdominal issues and that would make it very hard for him to serve.

Tip: Kyrgios to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
