Burel won their only meeting in Grenoble in 2020.

Burel Hasn’t Produced a Big Result This Year

Last year, Clara Burel had come through the qualifiers and then won her first round match on Wimbledon debut, but was beaten in the second round by Kaja Juvan. Back then she was ranked No. 143rd in the world.

Now a top 100 player, the World No. 95 would look to win at least a match in the grass-court major once again this year.

But the 21-year-old Frenchwoman will be playing her first match of the season on grass on Tuesday. She has played just five times on the surface, having finished with a 1-4 record last year.

It will be interesting to see how well Burel can transition from clay to grass. While she made it to two WTA 125 quarterfinals this year, she hasn’t had much success in the other tournaments at any level. She reached three ITF finals last year, but the 2021 Swiss Open runner-up has not made a deep run at the ITF level either.

Burel’s best at a Grand Slam was a third round finish in Roland Garros in 2020. But clay is her preferred surface. Can she deliver results on grass as well?

Boulter in Nice Touch

Katie Boulter has been in top form on grass this year. The Briton, ranked No. 118 is 7-3 on the surface, including qualifiers and has taken down some top names along the way.

In Nottingham, Boulter won both her qualifiers to reach the main draw and then knocked out Tatjana Maria in the opening round, before falling to Ajla Tomljanovic.

In Birmingham, she accounted for seventh seed Alison Riske and Caroline Garcia in the first two rounds respectively, but was brought down by Simona Halep in the quarterfinals.

She continued her good form in Eastbourne, defeating Terezza Martincova in the opening round and fourth seed Karolína Plíšková in the next to enter the Round of 16. But her run ended with a three-set defeat to Petra Kvitova.

The 25-year-old Briton, who received a wild card, will be a player to watch in the initial rounds. She will be the favourite to win the opener and if she advances, she will be up against the winner of the Pliskova-Martincova match, both of whom she had defeated in Eastbourne.

This is going to be Boulter’s fourth main draw appearance in Wimbledon and she has made the second round twice. Can she advance again this time?

Burel v Boulter Prediction and Tip
