Frances Tiafoe v Maximilian Marterer Head to Head

Frances Tiafoe took on qualifier Andrea Vavassori in the first round. He won 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 and was comfortable throughout the match.
The American was serving extremely well and had a 87% win on first serve percentage. He was able to convert 4 of the 10 break opportunities he had created and he was only broken once.
He will now face another qualifier in Maximilian Marterer. Tiafoe had made the third round last year, where he lost to Karen Khachanov. He reached the third round in 2018 too.
The 23 seed is having an average year with a 14-13 record, but has won a few matches where he was match points down. His preparation for Wimbledon did not go so well as he faced consecutive first round exits in Queens and Eastbourne.

German Qualifier on a Four-Match Streak in London
Maximilian Marterer has come through a terrific qualifying campaign to now seal his place in the second round.
He faced Slovenian veteran Aljaz Bedene in the first round and came through despite dropping the first set. He won 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, 7-5 and had an excellent break point conversion.
This is the first time the German has reached the second round of Wimbledon in his career. He is currently ranked 172 and was once the world number 45 in 2018.
Wimbledon was his first tournament on grass this year, so he is currently 4-0 on grass.
Tiafoe v Marterer Prediction and Tip
Tiafoe looked in good touch against Vavassori, however Marterer will be a much bigger threat and Tiafoe will have to put up a much bigger fight. Expect Marterer to steal one set but the American will have enough to seal victory.
