Marie Bouzkova v Ann Li Head to Head

Marie Bouzkova completed a terrific turnaround to record one of the biggest shocks on day one in the women’s draw. The Czech trailed by a set, but recovered to win 5-7 6-4 6-4 in two hours and 23 minutes. Bouzkova advances into the second round for the second time in three appearances.
Both players struggled to control their serves in the opening set which featured five breaks. But it was Bouzkova who was under immense pressure throughout and finally caved in the 12th game of the set.
In the second set, she rallied, breaking Collins to take a 3-2 lead. The American was playing in her first grass-court match this summer and it was evident from her play that she would not be progressing any further.
It was an error-strewn performance by the Australian Open finalist who coughed up 11 double faults and hit a jawdropping 53 unforced errors in the match. By contrast, Bouzkova hardly put a foot wrong in sets 2 and 3, keeping her unforced error count as low as possible.

Li Routines Bronzetti
In match that took just about an hour, Ann Li produced a polished performance to dismiss Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti. The American World No. 67 recorded an emphatic 6-1 6-4 win to advance into the second round of Wimbledon for the first time.
Li saved all four break points she faced in the match, coming up with some big serves and winning a high percentage of first-serve points.
The American broke Bronzetti twice in a one-sided first set that took just 24 minutes. But the Italian was highly organized in the second set where she nearly came close to leveling the set after getting broken at 2-2.
Ultimately though, it was Li that came up trumps, winning the most important and decisive points in the match, converting her match point at the first time of asking.
Bouzkova v Li Prediction and Tip
Bouzkova’s win was impressive, but playing an opponent who has hardly played any grass court match was asking for trouble. The second round will be a big test for the tenacious Czech, and I think she might hit a wall.
