Angelique Kerber v Magda Linette Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Strasbourg Open earlier this year where Kerber overcame Linette in three hard-fought sets.

Kerber Rushes Past Mladenovic
Things got a little scratchy for Kerber in the second set of her opening round match but in the end it was a case of too little, too late for Kristina Mladenovic as the former Wimbledon winner cruised to the second round here.
Kerber took a little over an hour to defeat her French opponent, winning 6-0, 7-5, to seal her second round berth.
Mladenovic has fallen to 120th in the singles world having opted to focus on doubles tennis and was hit by a whirlwind start from Kerber, as the German allowed her just three points on the Frenchwoman’s serve.
The second set saw Kerber take the early lead yet again, winning her eighth game in a row when she went 2-0 up and the match looked to be headed in one direction. And while a dip in her intensity allowed Mladenovic to go 3-2 up soon after that, Kerber regained control, broke her opponent in the 11th game and wrapped it up in the next.
This follows a quarterfinal appearance at the Bad Homburg Open which saw Kerber go down to Alize Cornet. Can she make it two in two against Linette?

Linette Lives up to Favourites Billing
Fernanda Contreras Gomez had taken a circuitous route to get to the main draw at Wimbledon, and was aiming to win just her second main draw match at this level. Linette had the advantage, experience-wise and because of a superior pedigree and she took full toll.
The Polish player needed just an hour and one minute to send Gomez Fernanda on her way back, winning 6-1, 6-4 in a match that had traces of how the script went for Kerber too.
Linette ran away in the first set with two breaks of serves, before Gomez Fernanda held firm in the second set. It was only in the ninth game there that the pressure finally got to Gomez Fernanda and she cracked, allowing Linette to get through.
Things could get a lot tougher for Linette, especially against a player who relishes playing on grass and has regained some of her form.

Kerber is a huge favourite here, both on paper and according to our estimate. Sure, it might not be as easy as how it was against Mladenovic but she should still come through in straight sets.
