Norrie Equals Best Wimbledon Finish

Cameron Norrie came through a five set match against Spain’s Jaume Munar. The British number 1 player won the first set when Munar decided to start taking more risks and it paid off.

Norrie came through 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. He defeated another Spaniard Pablo Andujar in the first round, where he had won in straight sets.

The level the Briton showed in the fourth and fifth set against Munar was what many experts have predicted him to be playing at. By reaching the third round, Norrie has equaled his best finish at Wimbledon which was last year.

As per the current draw, Norrie is the bookmaker favourite to reach the quarterfinal from his group.

He is currently 29-15 this year on all surfaces. Norrie hasn’t been able to show the same consistency he did last year, however he has still managed to lift two ATP titles this year.

He won the Lyon title on clay the week before Roland Garros and had also won the Delray Beach Open in February.

Johnson Upsets Local Boy Peniston

Steve Johnson stormed through local British wildcard Ryan Peniston in straight sets to book his place in the third round. He won 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Johnson has extremely strong on serve, hitting 14 aces and was not broken all match. In the first round, his opponent Grigor Dimitrov had to retire midway in the second set.

The American had reached the round of 16 in 2016 where he lost to 8 time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer. Due to his big serving nature, Johnson has proved to be a tricky opponent for higher ranked players on grass.

Norrie v Johnson Prediction and Tip

Norrie did show signs of being erratic against Munar however the level he showed after losing the third set was incredible. The Briton is one of the best returners on tour and should be able to neutralize Steve Johnson’s game.

Tip: Norrie to win: 3/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
