Another Wimbledon final for Djokovic

It has been a difficult last year or so for the six-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.

Having missed out on a shot at the Golden Calendar Slam last year, 2022 was not off to the best of starts with him being deported from Australia at the start of the Aussie Open.

An early loss at the Dubai ATP 500 was followed by him not being allowed to play at the Sunshine Masters due to not being vaccinated.

The clay season did not start too well either but after laboring through Monte Carlo, Belgrade and Madrid tournaments, he looked at being close to his best when he won the Rome Masters 1000 title right before the French Open.

The Serb looked in good touch at Roland Garros but lost a tight battle to arch rival Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.

Coming into Wimbledon, Djokovic needed a little adjustment and getting used to the grass as he dropped a set in the opener.

However, the number one seed found his feet soon enough as he made his way through week one looking clinical.

Djokovic was down two sets to none against Jannik Sinner in the quarters and down a set to Briton Cameron Norrie in the semis, but came back as only he can to win the next three, with a mental reset and a noticeable change in gears when down.

The defending champion is now in his eighth Wimbledon final, looking as confident as ever, with his eyes on a seventh Wimbledon title equaling none other than Pete Sampras.

Focussed Kyrgios In First Major Final

Aussie Nick Kyrgios has been at his focused best this fortnight and the results are showing.

After a good showing on the grass at Halle, and a precautionary withdrawal at Mallorca, he has looked solid here at the Championships.

It was a dramatic third round battle against Stefanos Tsitsipas that saw him make the round of 16 where he was up against American Brandon Nakashima, where the Aussie was pushed to five sets, but upped the ante when needed and prevailed for his second Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Playing first time major quarter-finalist from Chile, Cristain Garin, Kyrgios did not get off to the best of starts as he was broken early in the first set.

However, the Aussie was resilient and broke back to level at 3-3 and then broke soon thereafter to win the set 6-4.

The clinical showing by Kyrgios continued as he broke twice in the second set to close the set 6-3 and withheld any pressure in the third set to close out the set in the breaker.

A mouth watering prospect of a semi-final against Rafael Nadal came to and end with the 22-time major champion withdrawing due to an abdominal tear and with that Kyrgios getting a spot in his first major final.

Djokovic v Kyrgios Prediction and Tip

An unexpected yet blockbuster final awaits us at the All England Championships.  The outcome of the match is largely dependent on the version of Kyrgios that shows up.

Although Kyrgios has beaten Djokovic in both their meetings, this is the final of Wimbledon and one of the most difficult stages to beat  the Serb on.

Kyrgios to start strong but only a matter of time before Djokovic moves into clinical mode

Expect Djokovic to prevail in a four-setter.

Tip: Djokovic to win in four sets: 10/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
