This tournament will be an important build up for Basilashvilli as he will be playing the Hamburg Open the next week after Bastad, a tournament he was won twice in his career.

In the clay season prior to the Wimbledon, Basilashvilli was not able to get many results. He will hope to come out of Bastad and Hamburg with many points.

Gaston Hoping to Replicate French Open Form
NextGen star, Hugo Gaston will be participating in Bastad for the first time in his young career. He had a 4-3 in the grass season, which may have even bettered his own expectations.
The Frenchman had an exciting third round run in Roland Garros in May. He defeated Alex De Minaur in the first round to cause a huge upset and followed it up with a victory over Pedro Cachin.
Apart from his French Open performance, he had been sub standard in the other clay tournaments. He is currently 3-6 on clay this year, however he has always been labelled as a clay court specialist because of his spectacular drop shots.
Gaston is currently ranked at 66 and with only 3 clay tournaments left to play this year, this period will be very important for his ranking points.
