Peter Gojowczyk v Ugo Humbert Head to Head

The pair have played each other before, at the US Open last year, Gojowczyk winning in five sets.

Gojowczyk Yet to Win Main Draw Grass Court Match This Season

Gojowczyk was once ranked as high as 36 in the world, but he has fallen down the standings since then, and it has been nearly five years since his only senior tournament win, and four since his last final.

Much happier on hard courts, that is shown by his Grand Slam record, where he reached the fourth round of the US Open last year.

His form on grass is far more modest, and he has yet to win a main draw match this season.

He was knocked out in the second round of qualifying for Stuttgart, and again the following week in Halle.

The German was spared the rigours of qualifying at Wimbledon, but was then thrashed in the opening round by compatriot Oscar Otte, winning just four games in a totally one-sided match.

Humbert Beat Ruud at Wimbledon

Unlike his opponent, Humbert knows what it feels like to achieve success on grass. He won the Halle Open last year, beating Andrey Rublev in the final.

That was the most recent of his three ATP tournament wins, and he has struggled to match those levels in 2022 so far.

However, he has had a more successful grass season than the German, even though he was beaten in the first round in Stuttgart.

The defence of his Halle title was ended at the second round stage, and he suffered a disappointing opening round loss in Eastbourne.

However, at Wimbledon, having survived a five set battle with the Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry, he caused a major surprise by knocking out the world number six, Casper Ruud. in four sets in the second round.

David Goffin then ended his participation in the tournament in another four set match.

Gojowczyk v Humbert Prediction and Tip

Although Gojowczyk is the higher ranked player and won their previous match, Humbert is undoubtedly the better grass court player, and that should give the Frenchman the edge in this match.
