Andy Murray v Alexander Bublik Head to Head

Andy Murray had reached the semifinal of the 2006 Newport edition, and 16 years later he is one win away from repeating it. This longevity is what makes him a true champion among his other achievements.
Having faced an early second round exit in Wimbledon to John Isner, Murray decided to take part in Newport’s tournament after a 16 year gap.
The two time Wimbledon champion had faced Sam Querrey in the first round, and breezed past him 6-2, 6-0. His return game was absolutely efficient and Querrey barely had a cheap point on serve.
Murray faced wildcard and Wimbledon 2022 doubles champion Max Purcell in the second round. Purcell displayed an excellent grass game to take the first set and broke first in the second set.
However the Australian got tight and was unable to serve well after that juncture. The Briton made a comeback and then took full control of the match in the third set to seal his spot in the quarterfinal.
Murray is 10-3 on grass this season and notably reached the final of ATP Stuttgart last month.

Bublik Continues Excellent Record in Newport
Alexander Bublik is taking part in Newport for the third time, and has already one final and semifinal under his belt. If he defeats Murray, he will reach the semifinal of Newport for the third time in a row.
Bublik arrived in Newport having crashed out of the third round in Wimbledon. He was seeded number 3 and hence got a bye in the first round.
The Kazakhstani player faced Jack Sock in the second round. After saving a couple of break points early in the first set, he changed gears and won the first set. He lost focus in the second set and came back to fully dominate the third set for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
Bublik hasn’t been able to serve at his very best. Despite smashing 22 aces against Sock, he hit 16 double faults and his second serve will be of concern for his team.

In their head to head matches this year, the first set has been extremely balanced with both players having chances to take the first set, and whoever did went on to win the match. This is a very close match and the bookmaker odds for Bublik to win has a lot more value.
