Alcaraz Looking To Continue Strong Season

Having turned 19 in May, it has been a breakthrough season for Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

Coming into the season having won one ATP 250 title last year as well as the ATP Next Gen finals, it was only a matter of time before the teenager became a force on the big scene, which happened to be the case this season.

Winning his second career title and his first ever ATP 500 in Rio, Alcaraz put up a strong showing at Indian Wells, where he made the semi-finals losing out closely to Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard upped his level going into the Masters 1000 at Miami and won the title becoming one of the youngest to do so.

A brilliant clay court swing followed, with him winning titles at Barcelona (ATP 500), the Madrid Masters ( defeating Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic) and having a good run at the French Open falling short in the quarter-finals to Alexander Zverev.

Alcaraz made the fourth round at Wimbledon before he lost to Jannik Sinner, but had some good victories after having had next to no practice on the grass with an elbow injury.

Returning to clay this month, the Spaniard will be hoping for confidence boosting success before going into the North American hard court swing and then the rest of the season thereafter.

Kuhn Hopes To Make an Impression

When Nicola Kuhn won the opening match at the 2018 Miami Open, he was the youngest man since Rafael Nadal to win a main draw match on the ATP tour.

Having represented Spain for five years from 2016-2021, Kuhn does have a sense of the clay courts and also won the 2017 boys French Open doubles title.

His appearance at Wimbledon last month was the first time he got through the qualifiers of a major, but did not go much beyond with a first round loss to Brandon Nakashima.

The German will be hoping for a good run at his home tournament this week, but will have his hands full against Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz v Kuhn Prediction and Tip

Top seed Alcaraz starts as a strong favorite here on form, experience and surface. The German is still looking to get his feet wet on the tour whereas the Spaniard has hit the main draw in a big way this season.

Expect a straightforward win for Alcaraz in two sets.

Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 5/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
