Holger Rune v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head
This will be their first meeting.

Holger Rune has not won a match in July or June. To be fair he only played one match in July and it happened last week in Bastad where Marc Huesler proved better. His final win came at Roland Garros on May 30th when he beat Tsitsipas.
Since then he played five matches in total losing all five of them. On grass, he went 0-3 which is not a surprise but his return to clay and poor play has been somewhat interesting. Rune counts clay as his best and favourite surface but perhaps Bastad was just an anomaly.
He’ll have a chance to prove that in Hamburg where he has a measured opponent in the first round whom he should beat. Rune plays excellent attacking tennis but sometimes it just doesn’t work. Lately has been a clear slump for him but he’ll learn from this experience.
Hamburg is a solid place for him to start but we’ll see if he gets it done.
Griekspoor Doing Well on Clay
Tallon Griekspoor will arrive in Hamburg after a very strong week on clay in Amersfoort where he demonstrated a high level of tennis. The Dutch is not unfamiliar with clay as it’s historically his best surface. He played rather well on it this year and he’ll enjoy an opportunity to test himself in Hamburg.
Fatigue might be a real concern for him due to the gruelling week back home in Amersfoort but if he’s able to recover quickly he’ll try to do his best.
The draw was rather generous with Rune as the Danish player is not playing good tennis at the moment. The Dutch will certainly have a chance not it’s all up to whether he uses it.
His game is pretty decent overall albeit he has no huge weapons that could hurt Rune. His win condition is him playing well with a poor effort from Rune. Confidence won’t be an issue with a strong run this week and the form as well. He held up pretty well with a 23-15 record in his first season on the ATP tour.
Rune v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip
This is a very interesting matchup and a potential upset. Rune is playing very bad right now but he could turn things around any moment. His Bastad loss was a bad one as he squandered multiple chances in that matchup.
If he does that again he will have problems. Griekspoor is playing well at the moment and he’ll punish any chance Rune gives him. I’m not sold on the winner so I’ll pick a close match and an over with a slight inclination towards Rune.
