Ruse is Having to Defend her Title When Out of Form

Elena Gabriela Ruse had a promising start to the season, reaching the round of 16 in Sydney and Dubai as a qualifier. However since then, she has only won 4 matches and lost 11 matches.

She is currently in a 4 match losing streak and is 2-6 on clay this year. She played another out of form player in Kamilla Rakhimova in her previous match which was in Budapest last week.

Ruse lost in three sets to Rakhimova despite being a 1/3 favourite to win the match. The Romanian has struggled on her serve and the spectacular winners that she was hitting last year are not happening anymore.

Last year this month, Ruse had the greatest month of her WTA career winning 13 matches in a row to win the Hamburg title as a qualifier and then reach the Palermo final as a qualifier again. This year the Palermo Open and Hamburg Open are taking place parallelly.

The world number 72 will be nervous as she will defending some very important points here and faces the prospects of slipping out of the top 100 if she doesn’t perform well in the coming weeks.

Pera Hitting Peak Form in Budapest

Bernarda Pera went into the Budapest Open as a qualifier and was in a 5 match losing streak. She displayed some high level attacking tennis to brush past all her opponents in straight sets and set up a final against Aleksandra Krunic.

This is the second final Pera will be playing since her final in Karlsruhe two months ago. She is been enjoying her game on clay and is 15-7 on the surface this year.

The American will need a quick turnaround as she will possibly have to play the first round match in Hamburg 24 hours after her final in Budapest.

In the 6 matches she won in a row in Budapest, Pera has been hitting all kid of winners and her left handed serve has been extremely effective. If she can continue her form here, she could probably reach another final.

Ruse v Pera Prediction and Tip

This match is much more significant to Ruse but her form has been so poor, it will be tough for her to overcome an opponent who has been winning all week. Fatigue could be the only downfall for Pera, but if she wins Budapest her adrenaline could get her through.

Tip: Pera to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
