She is 14-3 on her win-loss this season for doubles play having already won two Grand Slam titles but that hasn’t translated too much into singles form for Krejcikova.

A win-loss record of 11-8 this year is not something Krejcikova would like but even more so after having kick-started the season with a final at Sydney and a quarterfinal at the Australian Open.
Since then, Krejcikova has won just four of her next 10 matches – a record that she would like to change quickly.
The Czech comes into this tournament on the back of a straight-set rout at the hands of Xinyu Wang, who was 3/1 going into that encounter. Which is also why, Lamens, who is 4/1 here, cannot be completely written off.

Lamens Improves to Career-Best
At 165th in the world, Lamens is currently at her career best and with clay being her favourite surface it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if she keeps moving up the rankings over the next few weeks.
This can be seen from what happened recently too.
While Lamens went on a three-match losing streak on grass, she returned on clay to make the second round and quarterfinals of two of the ITF tournaments she participated in. And while she was knocked out of the qualifiers here in Hamburg, the Dutchwoman makes it through as a lucky loser.
The big question here is whether she can test a player of her opponent’s pedigree and ranking – she is nearly 150 places ahead – but at the same time someone who is struggling for singles form.
