Cristian Garin v Yannick Hanfmann Head to Head
Garin leads the H2H record 1-0. Coincidentally they played in the 2020 Hamburg open where Garin won in straight sets in a round of 16 match.

Cristian Garin reached new heights in his career by reaching the quarterfinal of the Wimbledon earlier this month. It was his first Grand Slam quarterfinal in his career.

Garin played in Gstaad last year and got a bye into the second round because of his high seeding. He had reached the quarterfinal where he lost to Hugo Gaston in three sets.
The Chilean has generally found great success on clay in his career. He has 5 ATP titles to his name and all were won on clay. Quite notably, he was also the French Open Boys champion in 2013.
Prior to Wimbledon, Garin found form on clay reaching the quarterfinal in the Rome Masters and reaching the third round in Roland Garros. He will be content to return here and should be looking forward to play Hanfmann.

2017 Finalist Returns to Main draw through Qualifiers
In 2017, Yannick Hanfmann had stunned the field in Gstaad by reaching the final as a qualifier, losing to Italian star Fabio Fognini in the final. In 2018 he lost in the first round and this will be the first time he plays here since then.
The German player took part in the qualifying draw. He faced Filip Misolic in the first qualifier and was almost out facing three break points in the middle of the second set, having lost the first.
Hanfmann saved all break points and turned the match around from that point. He went on to beat exciting player Zizou Bergs in three sets in the second qualifier.
Currently ranked 152 in the world, Hanfmann has a very good return game and finds stunning angles in his shots. However he fails to maintain consistency in his game and hence hasn’t been able to really establish himself in the top 100 on tour.

Garin is playing after two weeks and will have to adjust to a surface change whereas Hanfmann has already won two qualifiers. Expect the German to make a quick start and take the first set.
