Aliaksandra Sasnovich v Aleksandra Krunic Head to Head
Krunic holds a 2-0 lead; she last defeated the Belarusian in the 2019 WTA Guangzhou in straight sets.

Aleksandra Krunic arrived in Hamburg on the back of a runner-up feat in Budapest, beating the likes of Shuai Zhang and Yulia Putintseva en route.
Even though she fell to Bernarda Pera in the final, she did reach her first singles final in over four years. That run propelled the 29-year-old back into the top 100 – to her current spot as World No. 75.
On the back of this momentum, Krunic dismissed the veteran German Sabine Lisicki in the opener here with 6-4, 6-2.
Having spent the first half of the season battling form woes, Aleksandra has done well to turn around her recent form and find her rhythm back. Her tally has now improved to 15-17 – with expectations of her to go up further.
Her recent best results include reaching the second round in the French Open and WTA Birmingham – both as a qualifier.

Sasnovich Looking Sharp
World No. 35 Aliaksandra Sasnovich began her campaign in Hamburg with a blazing 6-1, 6-4 win over Nastasja Schunk. Her job is likely to get difficult now as she is up against the resurgent Krunic.
Nonetheless, the number four seed will fancy her chances. After all, she is the current World No. 35 and has had a respectable season with 28-14.
Earlier in the season, she was a finalist in Melbourne Summer Set 1 and later racked up a few wins in Doha, Miami (round of 16), Rome, Strasbourg, and the French Open (round of 16).
Sasnovich has had a good run on clay as she beat the likes of Emma Raducanu, Angelique Kerber, and Veronika Kudermetova. That said, many of her wins have come in early rounds/qualifiers, and consistency hasn’t been her strong point. For instance, in round two, she fell to the eventual champion Bernarda Pera in Budapest last week.

The match can go either way, but Krunic looks confident about carving the upset. She has momentum, a decent pedigree, and a respectable record against the top 10 players.
