Francisco Cerundolo v Aslan Karatsev Head to Head
They played once before and it happened last week in Bastad. Cerundolo won 7-5 6-1.

Francisco Cerundolo is on an active 7-match winning streak as the Argentine player is playing some of the best tennis he has ever played. The confidence by which he’s hitting the ball has been spectacular to watch and the results back it up.
A maiden trophy in Bastad, two strong wins in Hamburg, one of which came over Andrey Rublev 6-4 6-2. When you consider that he was down 0-3 and then 2-4 the win is even more impressive as he effectively won 10 of the last 12 games played. Against Rublev no less.
It’s been a culmination of solid play that has been going on for a while. His match against Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon proved he has it and now we are finally seeing it.
Cerundolo is is 32-19 on the year and that’s pretty solid for him but the 2nd part of this year should be even more impressive. It’s not out of the question that he finished in the top 20 by the end of the year.

Karatsev Find Form
Aslan Karatsev has not had a very good year so far but the Russian player has managed to find some form lately with a couple of decent wins. Bastad was a solid experience for him but he lost to Cerundolo. The same Cerundolo he will now play for a spot in the Hamburg semifinal.
Karatsev’s play has been even better in Hamburg and he’s proved it with two solid wins. A win over Nikoloz Basilashvili was good and another one over Daniel Galan was solid as well. He showed some vulnerability against Galan and that doesn’t bode well for him in the next round but that’s another story.
For the most part, a 14-17 score by Karatsev this year indicates that he kind of plateaued on the ATP level. I don’t think he can do much better than that this year but he’ll be able to test himself against Cerundolo again.
Last week was solid in the first set until a meltdown in the 2nd. Perhaps he’ll be better this time around.
Cerundolo v Karatsev Prediction and Tip
Cerundolo is obviously the better player right now and he’s playing unbelievable tennis. He’s full of confidence and he’s playing like.
Last week’s match was a fairly comfortable win and I expect him to do so again.
