Albert Ramos-Vinolas v Pablo Andujar Head to Head

They played an incredible 17 times before with Andujar leading 13-4.

Ramos-Vinolas Earns Semifinal in Gstaad

Albert Ramos-Vinolas played some very decent tennis in Switzerland reaching the Gstaad semifinal. It wasn’t a very good time in the semifinal against Casper Ruud as the Norwegian smashed him 6-2 6-0 in only 63 minutes but it was a positive week for the veteran.

He didn’t come into the event in spectacular shape winning one and losing the other match in Bastad a week earlier. The year has been somewhat decent for Ramos who is still capable of some great tennis albeit it’s clear that his best days are behind him.

Whenever he faces a better player he usually loses and this year’s score is 18-19. On clay, it’s looking respectable with 18-15 with a decent week in Gstaad.

It will be interesting to see what he can do in Kitzbuhel as the conditions will be quite similar although he might be a bit tired after the longer week.

A Week Off for Andujar

Before coming to Kitzbuhel, Pablo Andujar took a week off which was expected after a long week in Romania where he played in the Iasi challenger. Andujar played some strong tennis that week but found himself pitted against a better player in the final and losing.

The Spaniard is still capable of strong tennis but his age is becoming a burden for him, especially when facing younger players who can play for a long time. It’s been an okay year with an 18-17 record so far and 15-12 on clay.

He’s very similar to his opponent Ramos in the sense that both are still capable of good tennis on clay but their career is trending downward. Andujar has had the upper hand against Ramos for the majority of their career and with somewhat similar forms it’s going to be a good clash.

Andujar beat him once this year on clay and he’ll like to do that again. A quick adaptation to the conditions will be needed as Ramos already played in similar ones in Gstaad.

Ramos-Vinoals v Andujar Prediction and Tip

So Ramos historically struggled against Andujar quite a bit in the past losing 13 times of the 17 times they played. That’s a serious matchup issue and I’m really not comfortable backing players in these types of situations.

However, I’ll back him to win because I think he’s playing pretty good at the moment. The conditions are somewhat familiar to him and I think that will matter. Fatigue might be in play but it’s a short journey so I think he’ll be ready.

Tip: Ramos-Vinolas to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
