Zhu Lin v Vitalia Diatchenko Head to Head

They are 1-1 from their previous two matches, but it will be their first meeting since 2018.

Lin Has Won Two ITF Titles in 2022

Zhu Lin will be making her seventh main draw appearance on the tour this year and the Chinese player has won one and lost six of those matches.

Her only win came in the first round in Melbourne Summer Set 2 against Sam Stosur after she had qualified for the main draw. Since then she has lost six main draw matches in a row.

But the World No. 100 has done extremely well at the ITF level, winning two titles and improving her ITF finals record to 14-12.

The 28-year-old, who is predominantly a hard court player, has a career record of 316-183 on hard courts, across levels. She has barely played on other surfaces, which is reflected in her 25-25 clay court record and 11-22 grass court record.

The two titles that Lin won this year came in Irapuato, Mexico and Monastir, Tunisia. It was no surprise that both were hard court events, where she has a 12-11 record in ITF finals. Lin also won a WTA 125 title in Korea last year, her biggest title so far this year.

As far as current form goes, Lin was a semifinalist at an ITF event in Portugal (hard), lost in the opening round in Lausanne (clay) and won one and lost one at the ITF in Spain (hard). How far can she go in Prague?

Diatchenko in Good Form

Facing Lin will be World No. 117 Vitalia Diatchenko, whose recent form has been very good. Although she has not played a tour level match since her first round defeat at ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Diatchenko has not been beaten before the quarterfinals in her last four tournaments.

The Russian was a finalist in Cantanhede, Portugal; a quarterfinalist in Porto 3, a semifinalist in Corroios-Seixal, Portugal; and again a quarterfinalist in Nur Sultan 4, Kazakhstan.

Barring the first, which was on carpet the other three ITF events were all played on hard courts.

A three-time WTA 125 winner, Dietchenko won her 20th ITF title in Macon in February. Her best on the tour this year was a quarterfinal appearance in Lyon, but she retired from her last eight contest after just three games.

Coming to the tournament in good form Diatchenko will look to start with a win.
