Arantxa Rus v Sara Errani Head to Head

Errani leads 4-1, but all four of her wins came between 2009 and 2013. Rus won the most recent of their battles at Marbella 125 this year.

Rus Struggling With Inconsistency

Arantxa Rus has not made an impact this season and a 5-10 tour level record is a proof of that.

At the ITF level, the World No. 75 lifted the Santa Margherita di Pula title in Italy in May. The triumph in the clay court event was the 31-year-old’s 28th singles title at the ITF level.

The Dutch, who plays her best tennis on clay courts, is 21-21 overall this season and 15-9 on clay. On hard courts she has a 5-8 record from all competitions.

At the Tour-level, Rus’ best this year was a run to the last eight in Rabat.

Her recent form hasn’t been great, she lost in the opening round at Wimbledon, fell in the second round at the WTA 125 in Contrexeville, France and could only win two matches in her last tournament in Liepaja, Latvia.

Errani Qualifies for Main Draw

Former World No. 5 Sara Errani made it to the main draw following back-to-back wins in the qualifying rounds.

The 35-year-old Italian, currently ranked No. 127, came from behind to beat Spain’s Andrea Lazaro Garcia 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 in the first qualifying round and then ousted Argentina’s Paula Ormaechea 6-2, 6-3 to qualifying for the main draw.

Errani improved her season record to 2116 overall and 14-8 on clay.

Her recent form has been pretty good. She won the WTA 125 title in Contrexeville, France earlier this month and was a finalist at the WTA 125 in Gaiba last month.

A nine-time WTA winner, the 2012 French Open runner-up is making her third appearance at the Poland Open. She lost in the Round of 16 in 2009 and made it to the last eight in 2010.

After showing a constant dip in form and rankings over the last couple of years, she has looked dangerous this season, winning two singles and one doubles title (Melbourne Summer Set). Can she make the season even better with a solid display in Poland?

Rus v Errani Prediction and Tip

Errani has displayed good form this season but Rus is the higher ranked player and recently edged past the Italian in a three-set thriller in Marbella. Expect this match to go the distance as well, with the Italian getting her revenge.

Tip: Errani to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
