Sinner, who has done equally well on clay and hard court surfaces in his career, would like to do a lot better on the red dirt surface having not won a single title on it. He has five ATP tournament victories on indoor and outdoor hard court surfaces.
What’s interesting to note is that Sinner, who had a first round bye here, opted to feature in a clay court competition as opposed to the one in Atlanta on hard court in the lead-up to the season’s final Grand Slam.

Munar Registers Comeback Win
He was a heavy favourite coming into his first round match against Mikael Ymer but Munar had to struggle to make it through to the second round.
The Spaniard came back from being a set down to carve out a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over his Swedish opponent to set up a meeting with Sinner.
In a match lasting two hours and 36 minutes, Munar ensured a high percentage of first serve points on his serve (76%) and shrugged off the three breaks of serves he needed to endure in the first set to clinch the win.
Can he now continue that momentum forward against a player who hasn’t played in over 20 days?
