Daniel Elahi Galan v Giulio Zeppieri Head to Head
Their only previous outing came on the Challenger circuit earlier this year where Zeppieri won their first round match in three sets.

Galan had broken into the top 200 on the ATP charts in 2019 and has been hovering in the 102nd-200th-rank range ever since.
Till last week that is.
It was after his showing at Hamburg where he made it to the quarterfinal as a qualifier that took Galan into the top 100 for the first time, helping him end the week ranked 99th in the world.
And with a shock first round win over Fabio Fognini here in Umag, there is every possibility the in-form Galan could climb further up the charts.
Galan defeated his Italian opponent in three sets despite having started out a 11/10 underdog, going on to win it 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to march into the second round.

Zeppieri Finally Wins a Match
Coming into this tournament in Umag, the 20-year-old Zeppieri had featured in four main draw matches at the highest level. He was yet to win his maiden ATP encounter.
It was against the 90th-ranked Pedro Cachin that Zeppieri overcame a set deficit to carve out a shock victory – he had gone into the match at 8/5 odds to edge out his opponent – and move into the second round.
Zeppieri won 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in a match lasting nearly two hours to set up this meeting with Galan.
Withstanding 11 aces from Cachin, Zeppieri was broken just once in the entire match – it came off the only break-point he faced in the first set and in the sixth game.
From there on, there was no looking back for Zeppieri as he shrugged off the loss of the first set to clinch the win.
