Holger Rune v Bernabé Zapata Miralles Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2021 Metz Open and Rune had double-bagelled Miralles in that first round encounter. Miralles would have hoped to come a long way since then.

A first round bye here meant Rune needed to wait a while longer before he can find out whether he would be able to break the form rut he finds himself in.
Because since making it to the quarterfinal at this year’s French Open, Rune has won nothing. His record reads a horrible, six matches played and six matches lost.
What makes it worse is that in four of those six matches, Rune has gone into them as a favourite and ended up getting knocked out in the opening round itself. Not to mention, the Dane number one has won just three sets from them.
His latest couple of losses came in the first rounds of Bastad Open and Hamburg Open, where he went down to Marc Huesler and Tallon Griekspoor respectively. Can he now turn things around against a player close to his career-best ranking?

Miralles Tested Before Prizmic Retirement
Bookmakers had pegged Miralles at 1/12 to win his opener against Dino Prizmic and while he did so with relative ease in the end, there were a few first set jitters he faced.
Miralles was leading 6-4, 3-0 in his encounter before Prizmic retired from the match because of fitness concerns. And yet, Miralles was on court for an hour and 29 minutes.
In what turned out to be a first set filled with breaks of serves, Miralles himself dropped his serve three times, even falling 3-4 behind as a result of that. He broke right back though and then again to wrap up the first set before a third successive break of serve gave him a 2-0 lead in the second.
A game later, Prizmic had retired from the encounter leaving Miralles a free pass to take on Rune in this second round match.

While Rune’s form has been abysmal, Miralles’ serving will be a big issue. Expecting Rune to finally break the rut and clinch a place in the quarterfinals.
