Dominic Thiem v Sebastian Ofner Head to Head
In their only previous meeting Thiem had gotten past Ofner at this very tournament in 2019. Thiem had won 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinal of that event.

He did endure a rather punishing defeat at the hands of Matteo Berrettini in the semifinal of the Gstaad Open but Thiem was back in his elements in his opener here.
The former world number three completed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alexander Shevchenko in his opener in a match that lasted a little over an hour and a half.
Thiem did fritter away a host of break-point opportunities before he finally broke Shevchenko in the first set to take a 5-3 lead and then lost his serve after being up 2-1 in the second. Those, however, were the only two blemishes in his performance as Thiem then clinched the encounter by winning four games in a row.
With a 76% first serve win percentage and 60% off his second serve, Thiem would be happy with the way he went about his business. Rinse and repeat time for him.

Ofner Shocks Gasquet
Having qualified for the event following back to back, straight-set wins, Ofner had gone into his opener against Richard Gasquet as a 7/5 underdog. And then he was dismantled in the first set, leaving most with no doubt which way the match was headed.
In the end, however, Ofner’s fighting spirit stood out as he withstood all that Gasquet had to throw at him to complete a 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 win and set up this second round meeting.
Ofner was on court for two hours and 36 minutes, and equally shared eight breaks of serves in the match with Gasquet but it was the timing that made all the difference.
Down a break in both, the second and third sets, Ofner broke back twice to seal the deal, winning the encounter off his fourth match-point.
