Jasmine Paolini v Viktorija Golubic Head to Head
It’s 3-0 to Golubic; she last beat Paolini in the Indian Wells Open earlier in the year 7-5, 1-6, 7-6(4).

It has been quite a season for the 29-year-old Swiss Viktorija Golubic. In February, she peaked at #35 in the singles ranking – now, she is ranked No. 103.
Her tally had also deteriorated to 14-17, but the two wins in Warsaw should help her case and boost her confidence. Both came in three sets – the first with Arianne Hartono and the next with the doubles specialist Kristina Mladenovic.
Golubic’s last tournament was Wimbledon, where she fell to Barbora Krejcikova in round two. She failed to defend her points from last year’s quarterfinal, dropping out of the top 100.
Her grass campaign was full of ups and downs – the semifinal feat in Nottingham was followed by consecutive first-round defeats in Birmingham and Eastbourne.
It was similar for most of the clay swing as Viktorija struggled to deliver wins.

Paolini Survives Burel
Number 10 seed Jasmine Paolini has fared well so far in the Poland Open. It is not entirely surprising, given that clay is her strong suit (12 ITF finals, 2 Challenger finals).
In the first match, the Italian knocked out Danka Kovinic 6-1, 6-1, and followed it with a three-set hiccup over Clara Burel – winning ultimately with 6-1, 6-7(1), 6-0.
These wins have now put Paolini at 15-16 – pretty much on the same level as Golubic.
Like the Swiss, Jasmine too has struggled a fair bit this year but she did reach the semifinal in Palermo last week. Back with some momentum, the 26-year-old will look to keep that tempo going.
Her other highlights include a quarterfinal stint in the Contrexeville Challenger and Lyon Open.
Paolini v Golubic Prediction and Tip
This should be a good match – Golubic has the psychological (and experience) advantage while Paolini has a rhythm to her game. We may be looking at a long affair here that can swing either way.
