Giron in a Miserable Run
While Giron did make it as far as the quarterfinal of the Mallorca Open in June, it was followed up by a second round exit at Wimbledon. And when he returned to hard court tennis last week in Atlanta, the results did not get any better.
Playing in the first round against Soon-woo Kwon and going in as a 8/11 favourite to win it, Giron crashed out in that opener in three sets.
It was Giron’s fourth successive defeat on hard courts and turned his overall season record on hard courts to 6-9 for 2022.
Which is why despite this being Kyrgios’ return and a direct match after having played in Atlanta doubles, Kyrgios will be a favourite.
