Anastasia Potapova continued her dazzling run at the Prague Open, overpowering China’s Wang Qiang in the semifinal on Saturday.
The Russian, who had suffered back-to-back semifinal losses in Lausanne and Hamburg over the last two weeks, needed just an hour to dispatch the Chinese 6-3, 6-0 and reach a fourth final of her career and a second this season.
Potapova had won her maiden title by beating Veronika Kudermetova in the final of the Istanbul Open this April. It has been an extremely successful year for the World no. 59, who improved to 28-16 following Saturday’s win.
The seventh seed saved 2 of 3 break points and converted 5 of 7 to breeze past the World no. 141.
Ranked no. 59, Potapova had stunned the World No. 2 and top seed Anett Kontaveit 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinal on Friday. Saturday’s victory was the Russian’s third over a Chinese player this week. She had won her opening two rounds against Wang Xinyu and Zhu Lin respectively.
Yet to a drop a set this week, Potapova heads to the final in stunning form and will be looking to pick her second title.

Bouzkova Holds Off Noskova
Marie Bouzkova held off compatriot Linda Noskova in the semifinal to reach a fourth WTA final and a second of this year.
The World No. 66, who had never gone past the first round in Prague, knocked out the 17-year-old Noskova 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in an hour and 42 minutes.
It’s been a highly successful season for the 24-year-old, who reached her maiden major quarterfinal at Wimbledon. She also reached a final in Guadalajara, and Saturday’s win improved her to 22-10 in the main draws this year.
Bouzkova, who has not dropped a set either, had begun her Prague challenge with a straight sets win over Sinja Kraus. She continued her winning momentum, taking out Dominika Salkova in the second round and Oksana Selekhmeteva in the quarterfinal.
Yet to win a WTA title, Bouzkova will look to win her first in front of home crowd.
