Daniel Taro v J.J. Wolf Head to Head

They played once before and Wolf won that match in 2019.

Daniel Passes the Qualifiers

Daniel Taro had to play loads of tennis in the past two weeks because he was forced to play the qualifiers both in Atlanta last week and Washington this week. Atlanta was a good week for him as he won three matches in total. One of those matches was against Sebastian Korda and that’s a notable win.

He lost to Tiafoe in Atlanta but made his way to Atlanta a couple of days later. There he won two matches in qualifiers without dropping a set so the Japanese player is playing pretty solid tennis overall. He’s now ranked inside the top 100 and if he keeps improving he will see his rankings rise.

Washington will be tricky but he could have gotten a worse draw. Wolf is a tough player to beat, especially on American soil but Daniel can certainly win this match.

A lot will depend on his serve because it did betray him a bit against Tiafoe. If he can keep up with the American on the serve and wait for his chance, he’ll be in good shape. He’s 36-18 on the year and 21-7 on hard courts.

Shaky Form From Wolf

J.J. Wolf has not played great tennis lately but the American did get a new career high ranking today. He’s in the top 100 and that should be only the start for him. There is plenty of talent there and his job is to find consistency in his play.

That’s what has been bugging him lately as he lost the three final matches he played. One of those was in Atlanta last week in the qualifiers with Wolf being forced to retire. It’s been a good year for him overall with a 28-19 score and most of those wins came on American soil.

Wolf generally plays better the higher the stakes are. There is some level of motivation that only gets unlocked when he plays at a big event and Washington is certainly that.

Expect a very engaged effort from the American as he will look to finally win a match. His last win was almost three weeks ago and since then it’s been 3 losses.

Daniel v Wolf Prediction and Tip

This is a very interesting matchup between two players who are in very different forms. Daniel is playing a lot better than Wolf lately however the American can produce the higher level when he’s truly on. It’s a tricky situation but I think I’ll back Daniel.

The reason si simple. He’s enjoying somewhat of a breakout season and he played fairly well recently. I think he’ll be too solid overall for Wolf.

Tip: Daniel to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
