Botic van de Zandschulp v Borna Gojo Head to Head
No previous matches have been held between these two at the highest level but they did face off on the Challenger circuit in 2020. Gojo had won that one in three sets.

After a fourth round appearance at Wimbledon, van de Zandschulp attempted to feature in a clay court competition in Hamburg in the lead-up to this US Open Series but lost his very first match there.
He now returns to hard court tennis, following on from a 7-6 win-loss record on that surface over the course of this season.
Overall too, van de Zandschulp isn’t much of a hard court player – especially outdoor hard court tournaments which he first featured in in only 2019 having begun his career in 2011.
What’s interesting to note is van de Zandschulp has made it to two hard court competition finals on the Challenger circuit, over the 2019-2020 period. Can he conjure up some of that performance coming into this second round match?

Gojo Douses off Duckworth
Back to back qualifying wins got Gojo through to the main draw but he was 6/4 to win that opener against James Duckworth. As it turned out, Gojo managed to not just win his first round match but also do so from a precarious position in the encounter.
In a match lasting two hours and 13 minutes, Gojo was down a set and a break down after losing his serve in the 11th game of the second set.
Gojo broke right back to push the set into a tie-breaker which he then won before breaking Duckworth twice in the final set to complete the victory.
He will now have a bigger challenge on his hands than the first round but with three wins in a row, Gojo will have oodles of confidence for support.

A return to hard court tennis could mean van de Zandschulp is slightly rusty on this surface but he should still have enough fuel in his tank to register a straight-set win here.
