Emil Ruusuvuori v Mikael Ymer Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Ruusuvuori has won both times.
The first came at the 2021 Miami Open at this very stage of the competition where Ruusuvuori needed three sets to get past Ymer, before making it 2-0 in Bastad last year.

Ruusuvuori had needed three sets to get past Mackenzie McDonald in his first round but when it came to taking on a much better, higher-pedigreed Hubert Hurkacz, he was all over him like a rash and completed a straight-set win.
The Finn number one needed an hour and 43 minutes and just one break-point in the entire encounter to squeak past his Polish opponent. He won 6-4, 7-6 (3) to move into the third round.
That break-point came in the fifth game of the opening set which Ruusuvuori converted to take a 3-2 lead. From there on, he held on through to serve out to love and win the set.
In the second, Ruusuvuori saved three break-points, all of which came in the sixth game before pushing it to a tie-breaker. There, things went level till 3-3 before Ruusuvuori stormed ahead with two mini-breaks before serving it out on his first match-point.
Ruusuvuori now has a golden chance to make it to the quarterfinal as he takes on a player ranked outside the top 100.

Ymer Continues His Shock Run
He had already shocked Andy Murray in the first round in a tough three-setter but Ymer isn’t done yet. In the second, the Swede found another gear to his game as he got past Aslan Karatsev in another three sets to win successive matches for the first time since he had done it at the French Open earlier this year.
The Montpellier Open semifinalist needed two hours and 26 minutes to edge past his Russian opponent, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Both players dropped their serves four times but it was Ymer who made those count slightly better than his opponent, getting decisive breaks of serves in the 10th game of the first set and the first of the third set.
Ymer will now hope to carry his fighting form through against a player who has also played some good tennis to get this far.
Ruusuvuori v Ymer Prediction and Tip
For the third time in a row, Ymer could push his opponent into a third set. Whether that would be enough for him to win is hard to call but Ruusuvuori holds the edge.
