Amanda Anisimova v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
There have been two meetings before this between the 22nd-ranked Anisimova and world number 45 Rogers. Rogers has won both including one in Miami earlier this year.

While Karolina Pliskova continues to be ranked 15th in the world, her form this year resembles more like a player outside the top 50. And Anisimova proved just that with her second round victory over her Czech opponent that took her to her sixth WTA tournament quarterfinal in seven tournaments.
Anisimova needed an hour and 39 minutes in sending the former world number one out of the competition, defeating Pliskova 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.
It wasn’t all one-way traffic as the scoreline suggests. In fact, Anisimova was a set and a break down in the second before mounting a comeback that saw her break Pliskova in the sixth and 12th games of the second set.
Pushing the match into the decider, Pliskova ran out of steam as Anisimova’s younger legs helped her break her opponent twice to seal the deal.
Can she now make it past Rogers, who has shown some brilliant sparkle already in this tournament?

Rogers Stuns Top Seed
In making it to the quarterfinal, Rogers has now taken out two scalps and will be sharpening her claws to make it three in three against players who were pre-match favourites.
After sending out former US Open winner Bianca Andreescu in the first round, winning 6-4, 6-2, Rogers had no problems whatsoever in dispatching the top seeded Maria Sakkari in the second. She dropped just four games in her hour and 13 minutes long encounter.
Rogers was all over Sakkari like a rash from very early in the contest as she broke the Greek number one in three of her first four games. Sakkari put up a braver front in the second set but as they got to the business end of it, Rogers broke her again and immediately served it out to advance to the quarterfinal.
These results would come as a bit of a surprise given Rogers had won only 12 of the 26 matches she had played all season. Can she now break Anisimova’s resistance too?
Anisimova v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Anisimova has been in good form and while Rogers has made headlines with her two victories, things could get a lot tougher here. We expect Anisimova to win in three.
