Bianca Andreescu v Alize Cornet Head to Head

Bianca Andreescu, current World No. 53, former world number four, is among the dark horses in this year’s Canadian Open. As the 2019 champion, she has an excellent chance to repeat the feat.
However, a lot will depend on her fitness and form; after battling with injury and the subsequent recovery for the first three months of the season, the 22-year-old Canadian returned to the tour in Stuttgart and has since spent time rebuilding her form.
As a result, she is 12-8 so far with a bag of mixed results. Her highlights include a third-round result in Madrid, a quarterfinal in Rome, and a runner-up feat in Bad Homburg.
Bianca last played in San Jose, where she lost in the first round to Shelby Rogers. The transition to hard courts may be tricky, but if her opening match in Toronto is any indication, that is really not a concern.
Andreescu dispatched the reigning Silicon Valley Classic champion Daria Kasatkina 7-6(5), 6-4 to fire warning shots. Having ousted an in-form player like her, her confidence is bound to have shot up.

Cornet Moves Past Garcia
32-year-old Alize Cornet is not among the most consistent performers on the tour, but she does have her moments and a unique ability to shock big guns every now and then.
In an all-French affair, she beat Caroline Garcia 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to set up the clash with Andreescu.
Most of Cornet’s season has gone by in early losses – barring a handful of tournaments where she took the crowd by surprise. In the Australian Open, she made it to the final eight after beating Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep en route.
Similarly, Alize was a semifinalist in Bad Homburg while in Wimbledon, she beat Iga Swiatek and Yulia Putintseva on her way to round four.
However, in her last tournament in Prague, she was beaten by the Czech teenager in the second round in three sets.
Cornet v Andreescu Prediction and Tip
Playing at home, Andreescu has a definite advantage here. Cornet’s form is shaky at best, and with a strong start, there is no reason why the Canadian can’t move into round three with ease.
