Pablo Carreno Busta v Holger Rune Head to Head
Carreno Busta has won both their previous two meetings, having last played Rune in Halle earlier this year where he registered a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory.

Carreno Busta was 11/5 odds underdog coming into his opening round encounter against the in-form Matteo Berrettini. By the time the match had ended, it wasn’t just a shock result in favour of Carreno Busta but also the manner of that win that would have surprised both sets of fans.
The Spaniard ran away to a 6-3, 6-2 victory, needing an hour and 18 minutes to get there in a match where Berrettini looked like a pale shadow of his own self.
So much so that Berrettini didn’t win himself a single break-point in the entire match, unable to take advantage of his opponent’s second serve either. Carreno Busta lost just three points on his second serve.
A confident Carreno Busta will now look to add to his solid hard court performances which had seen him win four of his ATP Cup 2022 matches and reach the fourth round at Australian Open.

Rune Blasts Fogini Away
He was always the favourite coming into his opening encounter against Fabio Fognini and Rune lived up to those odds as he raced away to a straight-set win in his opener.
Rune claimed a 6-3, 7-5 victory in an hour and 42 minutes in what turned out to be a cagey battle with barely a break of serve. Not that there weren’t available opportunities but neither player took too many of them on board.
The Danish number one saved all six of those break-point chances against him, while breaking Fognini once apiece in both the sets to come away a winner.
This victory followed a run of wretched form for Rune though, with the player having lost nine of his previous 10 matches. The question now is if he can shake that hoodoo off to make it a rare successive wins in recent times.
Carreno Busta will be a way more difficult opponent than Fognini.

Unfortunately for Rune, this is where his campaign will end as Carreno Busta could come away a straight-set winner to make it to round three.
