Daniil Medvedev v Denis Shapovalov Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Shapovalova leads 2-1 on the ATP circuit. They did face off once in the Laver Cup too last year where Medvedev had won.
All their matches came in the 2017-18 period and in hard court competitions.

Following an opening defeat at Montreal and a first round bye here, Medvedev would have been itching to get back to court to get some wins under his belt. And that’s what the Los Cabos Open winner finally did.
In a match lasting an hour and 35 minutes, Medvedev registered a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Botic van de Zandschulp to reach round three of a tournament he had won in 2019.
Medvedev broke his opponent in the very first game of the match and for a long time that was the only break of serve in the encounter. That was all he needed to clinch the opening set.
In the second, the two traded breaks of serves early and Medvedev even faced a set-point against him but once he had broken van de Zandschulp in the 11th game, there was no looking back.

Shapovalov Overturns Paul after Slow Start
It’s been a solid start to the tournament for an off-colour Shapovalov. Such have been his form issues in recent times, Shapovalov started off a second favourite in both of his first two encounters and won both.
After having sent Grigor Dimitrov packing in the first round in straight sets, Shapovalov overcame a first set deficit against Tommy Paul to register a three-set win over the American.
Shapovalov won 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to register back to back victories for the first time in his career since having reached the quarterfinal at the Rome Masters earlier this year.
