Felix Auger-Aliassime v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

They played once before in Madrid this year and Auger-Aliassime won that match 6-1 6-2.

Auger-Aliassime Wins Easily Against de Minaur

Felix Auger-Aliassime looked very good in his hometown of Montreal up until the Ruud matchup. In that one, the Canadian completely underwhelmed losing easily. Many wondered how the loss would impact him but it didn’t. His first match since then against de Minaur proved a very comfortable affair, much more so than it was assumed.

He controlled the match well and slowly took apart the game of de Minaur in the two-set victory. The exact same thing happened in Madrid when he played Sinner. The Italian was unable to keep the ball in play and multiple errors proved his doom.

Both of them are capable of producing such a level but it’s been getting pretty rare with time. Auger is 36-20 on the year and his play has been plagued with inconsistencies more and more in the past couple of months. Both of his past events were really solid until a lacklustre performance.

Both of the losses featured players that put him under a lot of pressure from the return and Sinner fits that profile really well. If the Canadian can absorb that pressure he’ll be in good shape but that’s a big if.

Retirement to Send Sinner Into R3

Jannik Sinner controlled the match against Miomir Kecmanovic really well but the Italian missed a lot of balls in crucial rallies. It took him several break points to win the opening set mostly due to him missing several point-black forehands.

His still searching for his form as his Montreal campaign was cut short by the very inspired Pablo Carreno Busta. Round one against Kokkinakis was a nail-biter. Round two looked better and it’s presumed that his form will look better and better the more he plays. It’s what happened in Umag when he won the trophy.

Sinner likes Cincinnati because the conditions fit him rather well. He puts players under a lot of pressure from the return and he’s got a pretty good one. The ball slides on these courts making it very hard to react on time when you get a quick ball back.

Auger doesn’t do well with early pressure and that’s one way to attack him. The Italian simply needs to avoid committing too many errors as he did in Madrid.

Auger-Aliassime v Sinner Prediction and Tip

Their lone clash this year came in Madrid and Auger won that match in two sets. It was an easy win which surprised many as the Canadian wasn’t playing that well at the time. Neither was Sinner and he really struggle with keeping the ball in play in that one.

He should be in better shape now but it’s a close match. The crucial part of the match will be the return of Sinner because he’ll need to put a lot of pressure on Auger. If he can cause doubt in his game he’ll have chances. If he doesn’t put much pressure on him, the Canadian might cruise.
