Martina Trevisan v Mayar Sherif Head to Head

Sherif stunned Trevisan before this at the 2021 Karlsruhe final – WTA 125K series –  in straight sets.

Trevisan Yet to Impress Outisde Clay

Martina Trevisan is one of the most formiddable challengers on clay, with the 28-year-old Italian accounting for 15 wins of her 22 on the surface.

There was a run to her first WTA title in Rabat and a subsequent semifinal finish at Roland Garros –  two results that went a long way to push Trevisan inside the world’s top 30 and very much with interest in the top 20 picture.

But outside her beloved clay courts, is a paltry 4-6 on outdoor hard courts. She has also not won a match on the surface since defeating Nao Hibino in the first round of the Australian Open.

Trevisan will be well aware of the task in hand in Cleveland as she looks to turn around her fortunes before the US Open.

Sherif Seeking Rare Win On Hard Courts

It is not only Mayar Sherif who is looking to arrest a terrible run of results on hard courts, but Egypt’s Mayar Sherif has only scored one win in 11 matches on the surface since the turn of the year.

Sherif was beaten routinely in her last two matches, in Washington and Cincinnati, playing much more accomplished tour level players. While in Canada she could not partake at the Toronto Open due to visa issues.

With the US Open just one week away, it is harddly ideal preparation for the 26-year-old who will be looking to win for the first time at Flushing Meadows.

Sherif will get one more opportunity to fine-tune her game and polish up on a few glaring weaknesses when she takes on Trevisan in the first round of the Tennis in the Land tournament in Cleveland.

Trevisan v Sherif Prediction and Tip

Both players love playing on clay courts. They don’t get the time and space to outmaneouvere their opponents on hard courts. Trevisan has been slightly the better player, but there is real value in backing the Egyptian’s power-packed game to overwhelm the Italian.

Tip: Sherif to win: 13/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
