Albert Ramos-Vinolas v John Millman Head to Head

John Millman won their only meeting in Winston Salem six years ago.

Ramos-Vinolas Is 0-5 in Winston-Salem

World No. 42 Albert Ramos-Vinolas has played in Winston-Salem on five previous occasions but is yet to win a match in the tournament.

Seeded No. 8 this year, he received a first round bye and will be eager to get his first win in the second round on Tuesday.

Although he was beaten by Fabio Fognini in straight sets in Cincinnati last week, Ramos-Vinolas’ recent form has been pretty good. The 34-year-old reached back-to-back semifinals in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel and then made it to the Round of 16 at the Canadian Open.

The Spanish left-hander, who won his fourth ATP title this year in Cordoba, was also a semifinalist in Santiago and Estoril, and brings an overall season record of 21-20 into the tournament.

Although he has never had a great record on hard courts, his two wins in Montreal would have boosted his confidence. Could that inspire him to win his first match in Winston-Salem?

Millman Ousts Gaston

John Millman began his campaign in the tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 win over France’s Hugo Gaston.

The Australian hit 30 winners and converted 5 of 12 break points, while saving 3 of 5 that he faced during the match to beat the Frenchman in an hour and 19 minutes.

Ranked No. 106, Millman is playing in Winston-Salem for the fourth time. He was a semifinalist in 2016 and a quarterfinalist in 2019, thanks to which he brought a 6-3 past record into the tournament.

This year, Millman had just one good tournament and that was in Delray Beach, where he made the final four. He has not won consecutive matches at the tour-level apart from that tournament.

Overall he improved to 9-15 following Monday’s win. Can he keep the winning run going.

Ramos-Vinolas v Millman Prediction and Tip

Ramos-Vinolas is the eighth seed, but he doesn’t have a great record on hard courts. Also, the fact that he is 0-5 in Winston-Salem may add more pressure on him. The match may see three sets with Millman, the better hard court player, edging through.

Tip: Millman to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
