Jack Draper needed just an hour 20 minutes to dispatch Dominic Thiem in the Round of 16 of the Winston Salem Open on Wednesday.
The Briton, ranked No. 55 in the world, didn’t face a single break point against the former No. 3. He did get 10 chances to break the Austrian and he capitalised on three of them to win the match 6-1, 6-4.
Draper, who hit 8 aces and 19 winners, didn’t making too many errors in the match, double faulting just once and making seven unforced errors. Thiem on the other hand double faulted seven times and made 26 unforced errors.
The 20-year-old, who had received a first-round bye, had beaten Fabio Fognini 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the second round.
This will be the third time when Draper will feature in a quarterfinal this year. He was a quarterfinalist at the Canadian Open recently and also featured in the semifinals in Eastbourne earlier this season.
Draper is 13-7 this season. He also featured in his first four Challenger finals this year, winning all four them.

Huesler Outlasts Ivashka
World No. 102 Marc-Andrea Huesler defeated defending champion Ilya Ivashka in a second round match which ended around 1 am on Thursday.
Huesler out-aced Ivashka 14-8, didn’t double fault in the match and struck 42 winners to Ivashka’s 35 on his way to a 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Neither player broke serve in the first and the final sets, but the Belarusian broke twice in the second set, after Huessler had broken in the first game, to force the deciding set.
Huesler, who qualified for the tournament with straight set wins over Matthew Ebden and Shintaro Mochizuki, had received a first round bye. He defeated Mikael Ymer 6-4, 6-4 in the second round on Tuesday.
With the win the Swiss is now 3-4 at the tour-level this season. The 26-year-old did win two Challenger titles, both on clay, this year. He will be hoping to keep the momentum going on Thursday.
