Alex de Minaur v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two players before this and that came at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters. De Minaur won a tight contest in three sets after getting bagelled in the first.

de Minaur 15-8 in Hard Court Tournaments This Year

A second round defeat in Cincinnati last week notwithstanding, de Minaur will be pleased with how he has gone about his business in hard court competitions this year.

The 2020 US Open quarterfinalist has won 15 of the 23 matches he’s played on hard courts in 2022, and this includes a title victory as recently as the Atlanta Open.

Wins over Ilya Ivashka and Jenson Brooksby helped him clinch the tournament there.

Earlier this season, de Minaur also made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon, and was a semifinalist in Eastbourne. And with that kind of form under his belt, de Minaur will hope to start off with a lot more confidence than a second round rout at Cincinnati might have entailed.

Krajinovic 1-2 in US Open Series

More attuned to playing on clay court surfaces, Krajinovic opted to feature in only two tournaments on hard court in the lead-up to this year’s US Open.

The world number 45 lost in the first round at the Canadian Open to Dan Evans, and while he overcame Evans in the very next match he played, Krajinovic then fell in the second round in Cincinnati. To be fair to him, he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas, a player far better in his pedigree on hard court surfaces.

Earlier this year, Krajinovic had struggled through most outdoor hard court competitions, but did make it to the semifinal of the Montpellier Open indoors.

And while there was a surprise final appearance at the Queen’s Club competition on grass, things could tricky against de Minaur here in the opener.

de Minaur v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip

We are looking at the Aussie starting off as a strong favourite to clinch this one and probably even in straight sets.
