It has been quite a year for the World No. 48 Bianca Andreescu. She began the season late following the recovery from her injury and has come a long way since.
Her first tournament was in Stuttgart, where she fell to Aryna Sabalenka in round two; she followed it with a third-round stint in Madrid and a quarterfinal run in Rome.
Later, the 22-year-old reached the final in Bad Homburg – a first such run since the 2021 Miami Open, where she was a finalist.
At the same time, not everything has been wonderful for Andreescu as she looks to find her rhythm for good. She was beaten in the early rounds in Wimbledon and San Jose while most recently in Toronto, she reached round three before bowing out Qinwen Zheng.
As the 2019 US Open champion and a superb hard-court pedigree, Bianca will fancy her chances of a good start in New York at the very least.

Tan in a Rut
World No. 112 Harmony Tan has never made it past the first round at the Flushing Meadows, and by the looks of it, she is not going to break that jinx this season either.
Tan’s current tally stands at 19-20 and has arrived in New York following a series of disappointing results in the American swing.
Harmony restricted herself to low-tier events – notably the Challenger events in Concord and Vancouver – where she lost respectively to Katie Volynets and Maddison Inglis.
Her last stint was in Cleveland, where she cleared the qualifiers but fell to Clara Tauson in the opener. The only notable run of her season came in the Gaiba Challenger, where she was a semifinalist.
Andreescu v Tan Prediction and Tip
Andreescu is the clear favourite here. Although she may not be in the best of form, she is experienced and skilled enough to make quick work of Tan and reach round two comfortably.
