Daniil Medvedev v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head
No previous matches have been played between Medvedev and Rinderknech before this second round encounter at the US Open.

Medvedev was on court for two hours and in that much time, he managed to caress past Stefan Kozlov to announce his title defence with a smart win in the first round.
The world number one did not face too much trouble in his 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 victory over Kozlov as he marched into the second round.
Hammering 10 aces in the encounter, Medvedev was broken twice though – once in the first set when he was 2-1 up and then again when he was 4-3 up in the second – but it did not matter. He broke right back on both occasions and completed the rout soon after.
What Medvedev would like is for a better first serve percentage – he got them in just 54% of the times in this first round encounter – but it could be put down to a bit of nerves starting out.

Rinderknech Wins Battle of Frenchmen
It took him four sets in the end but Rinderknech ensured he would live up to his favourites odds by getting past fellow Frenchman Quentin Halys in their opener.
Rinderknech overcame the loss of the first set to carve out 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-2 in a contest lasting three hours and 10 minutes.
In a match that saw eight breaks of serves in total, Rinderknech lost his own on three occasions but managed to get back at his opponent in the last two sets to carve out the victory.
Having last won a main draw match at the highest level in Stuttgart in early June, Rinderknech looked to be in trouble when he was a set down and another set-point down in the second.
He pushed it into the tie-breaker before clinching it and the next two with ease.
Against Medvedev it would be a different cup of coffee.
