Veronika Kudermetova v Maryna Zanevska Head to Head

Donna Vekic has had her struggles in recent times and was not really in contention coming up against the world number 18 Kudermetova. Due credit to her, therefore, to make the Russian sweat a tad but in the end, Kudermetova won her opener in straight sets.
With a 17-9 win-loss record in hard court competitions behind her back coming into this tournament, Kudermetova sent Vekic packing 7-5, 6-3 in an hour and 33 minutes to enter round two.
Coming into this tournament with two under-par performances in WTA 1000 tournaments in Canada and Cincinnati, Kudermetova held firm on her serve throughout the encounter. She faced no break-points, winning a whopping 85% of her first serve points and 63% of her second.
And while she missed out on breaking Vekic in the 10th game of the first set, she took the first opportunity she got in the 12th game.
A second break in the fourth game of the second set followed soon after as Kudermetova wrapped things up quickly after that. Given her form, it might be very difficult for the world number 97 to stop her.

Zanevska Sends Vandeweghe Packing
It took Zanevska an hour and a half to get past Coco Vandeweghe and should be darn happy to have done that given this is her first ever win in the main draw of the US Open and just the second at any Grand Slam.
Zanevska was 6/4 odds to win this match but the manner in which she started things off it did not look like she was the underdog.
A break of serve in the very second game and a consolidation with a second one to boot in the sixth got Zanevska the opening set.
And even when she wasn’t getting those breaks, like was the case for most part of the second set, Zanevska defended well, as she saved a couple of set-points in the 10th game. She then broke Vandeweghe in the 11th and served out the match to love.
This was just Zanevska’s second main draw win in hard court tournaments this year.
Kudermetova v Zanevska Prediction and Tip
Zanevska might have surprised Vandeweghe but it will be a far more difficult proposition against Kudermetova. Straight-setter for Kudermetova.
